Use the stairs - don't scramble down the hill
This little beach was reserved for the ladies from the 1880s until the 1930s. A collection of huts served as women's changing rooms, although the concrete slab near the cache belonged to the hut of a local fishing identity, Nobby. You can see a bronze bust of him over by the Flying Fish cafe.
The granite breakwater was built between 1853 and 1856 to protect ships using the port. However, in it's short life as a port, from 1851 to 1866, seven vessels were wrecked here, from a total of about 500 moorings.
It must have been quite a challenge riding your boogie board here with all the ships crashing around you.
The cache is a small Tupperware container with logbook, pencil, and a few swap items (not necessarily lady related).
