Adventure Out - Chapman's Pool Traditional Cache

Located approx. 30km south-east of Margaret River is Chapman Pool.  This scenic recreation area is located on the Blackwood River and has one of the cleanest and clearest fresh water river systems I have ever seen.  You could swim here with mask and snorkle and discover a whole new underworld.

The recreation area has both a camping  and day use area.  There is also a boat ramp in which to launch non-powered vessels such as canoes and wave skis.  When we were there a couple had canoed 2.5 hrs from another location to here.

The camping area has individual bays boasting, tables, fire pits and BBQs.  There toilets are clean are there is always a huge pile of firewood from which you can help yourself.

There are two walk-trails - one follows the river and takes about 20 minutes.  The other heads away from the main camping area and is shown to take 10 minutes.  It is along this route that the cache is hidden. 

The day use area has a terrific gas BBQ shelter and picnic tables.  The river is said to contain marron and bream.  As expected, the forest is filled with birds.

The cache is at the base of a tree.  Its is a clear water proof zipped bag container some goodies, a guide to the south-west, cache log and pen.  Please ensure it is well hidden and covered.

Please note:  Access is suitable for 2wd.  There is some driving on gravel but its not difficult.  There are numerous ways you can reach this location and we suggest you consult your maps.  4wds may wish to take North Rd and enjoy some other of the local attractions such as Canebrake, Hut Pool and Sue's Bridge.
