Geocache Description:

Another small cache just off the Bibbulmun Track at Point Irwin near Peaceful Bay. A place with spectacular views all the way along the coast and somewhere you can usually have to yourself every day of the year.

Somewhere I've been meaning to put a cache for a while. Point Irwin, located just south of Peaceful Bay. The nearest car access (4x4 only) is via the Soft Beach track from the Peaceful Bay Ring Road. (Make sure you let your tyres down or you won't be able to get through - the Peaceful Bay shop has a compressor for putting them up again). You can park at either Kingy or Castle Rock and then hike up the Bibbulmun to the cache. It is located is a few metres off the track, behind an odd shape rock on the edge of a large flat sheet of granite. You can get to it from walking on the track or rocks, no need to bash your way through the bush for this one. The cache itself is a standard tupperware style box and contains the usual cache trinkets. It has had problems in the past with getting wet, mainly from condensation wicking in, so anyone visiting will notice a plethora of airtight bags which will hopefully add some resilience. Do be careful wandering around up there, there are a few sheer drops and the rocks can be slippery if it rains, but we've taken pains to put things in locations which should not be hazardous to get to.
