KOSTEL SV. VACLAVA V BROUMOVE
Na miste nynejsiho kostela zacali v roce 1610, v dobe po vydani Rudolfova majestatu, ktery povoloval i nekatolikum ceske konfese svobodu vyznani, broumovsti protestanti tesne prede zdmi mesta stavet novy dreveny kostel. Stavba dreveneho evangelickeho kostela trvala do r. 1613, byla vsak zakazana od opata Wolfganga Zelendra. To vsak evangelikum nezabranilo, aby se stavbou kostela pokracovali, a tak cisar Matyas vydal rozkaz zakazujici stavbu. Presto byl kostel pod ochranou protestantskych stavu uzivan evangeliky az do roku 1618, kdy byl z rozkazu cisare zavren a osm mestanu broumovskych v Praze uvezneno. Tato udalost a poboreni protestantskeho kostela v Hrobech zavdalo bezprostredni podnet k vyhozeni cisarskych mistodrzitelu z oken a posleze k tricetilete valce. Kostel zabrany, v letech 1618 - 1621 protestanty byl roku 1622 definitivne uzavren. V roce 1676 vystavel na jeho miste opat Tomas Sartorius novy kostelik, tez dreveny, zasveceny sv. Vaclavu. Na miste tohoto kostela dal opat Otmar Zinke roku 1729 postavit kostel nynejsi. Autorstvi neni dolozeno prameny, avsak vyplyva z cinnosti Kiliana Ignace Dientzenhofera pro brevnovsko-broumovske benediktiny. Roku 1788 byl kostel sv. Vaclava poskozen bleskem. Tyz rok byl zrusen, ale od r. 1885 opet obnoven a znovu uzivan pro cirkevni ucely.
Svatyne ma pudorys protazeneho reckeho krize. Na pravouhly prostor kneziste navazuje pulkruhova apsida. K zapadu orientovany kostel vypada jako kamenna omitana stavba na vysoke trnozi, jejiz zdi jsou oziveny toskanskymi pilastry. Stavba ma pomerne stridmy barokni stit. Strecha je krome vychodni strany zvalbena, kryta bonskym sindelem. Hlavni ve vychodnim pruceli je v kamennem osteni, s prolaklym vlysem a rovnou rimsou. Okna smeruji do tri lodi, dve mensi okna do kneziste, vsechna jsou pulkruhova.
Vnitrni predsin kostela je sklenuta pod i nad kruchtou valenou klenbou do eliptickych oblouku. Lod ma dovnitr zakulacene rohy, ktere vytvareji pendetivy, podporujici plochou ban bez prevodne rimsy. Kneziste je zaklenuto v prvnim poli ceskou plackou a v zaveru paprskovou klenbou. Pod pasy, jez ohranicuji stredni lod, vystupuji ze zdi zalomene pilastry s barokne jonskymi hlavicemi, ktere nesou vysokou rimsu. Klenba je pokryta rozsahlou freskou Ant. Felixe Schefflera, znazornujici apoteosu sv. Vaclava a dalsi svetce z okruhu ceskych patronu. Obraz na hlavnim oltari namaloval malir Kandler a znazornuje sv. Vaclava a sv. Jana Nepomuckeho.
CHURCH OF ST. WENCESLAS, BROUMOV
At the place where the Church of St. Wenceslas stands today, the Broumov Protestants built their wooden church at the beginning of the 17th century. The dispute of the abbot with the citizens of the town over its closing in 1618 even became one of the external impulses towards the Prague defenestration of vicegerents. After the church had been substantially damaged by fire in the course of the Thirty Years' War, its ruins were pulled down and abbot Sartorius built a chapel there to the honor of St. Wenceslas. However, the chapel came under destruction during another great fire of the town in 1684 and abbot Zinke decided to build a new church in its place. He entrusted Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer with its construction. The church was finished in 1729 and it was sacrificed to St. Wenceslas. It received the decoration only under abbot Benno Löbl in 1784, the author of an extensive fresco Glorification of St. Wenceslas is the Silesian painter Felix Antonin Scheffler. The painting on the great altar picturing St. Wenceslas and St. John of Nepomuk was painted in the 19th century by Wilhelm Kandler. The floor projection of the church is one of elongated Greek cross, the right-angled area of the chancel is followed by a semicircular apsis. At the beginning of the fifties of the 20th century, the church was used as a warehouse. A ruined building with broken windows came on depressively. After demanding construction works including the renovation of the Scheffler's fresco, the restored church was opened again on the feast of St. Wenceslas on September 28,1995.
The Broumov Group of Churches
The baroque churches, the so-called "Broumov Group", built on the territory of the Broumov monastic estate in accordance with the plans of Christoph Dientzenhofer and his son Kilian Ignaz form a unique architectural landmark of the region. The churches were built in a relatively short time, in the period 1709-43. They are a result of unusual building and economic boom initiated by abbot Otmar Zinke - a very capable provost of the Benedictine monastery of Brevnov-Broumov. Despite the unquestionable economy of their design, these country churches bear a seal of uniqueness and creative originality worthy of the well-known name of its authors -- father and son the Dientzenhofers. In particular the following buildings are concerned: the Church of St. Procope in Bezdekov, the Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Božanov, the Church of St. Wenceslas in Broumov, the Church of All Saints in Hermánkovice, the Church of St. Barbara in Otovice, the Church of St. James the Bigger in Ruprechtice, the Church of St. Margaret in Šonov, the Church of St. Michael in Vernérovice, the Church of St. Anne in Vižnov and the Chapel of Virgin Mary (also called the Star) on the border of the Broumov Cliffs.
KIRCHE DES HL. WENZELS, BROUMOV
Dort, wo heute die Kirche des Hl. Wenzels steht, bauten Anfang des 17. Jahrhunderts die Protestanten von Broumov ihre eigene Holzkirche. Der Streit des Abtes mit den Bürgern bezüglich der Schließung dieser Kirche im Jahre 1618 wurde sogar zu einem der externen Impulse für den Prager Fenstersturz der Statthalter. Nachdem die Kirche während des dreißigjährigen Krieges durch einen Brand im wesentlichen zerstört wurde, wurde die Ruine abgerissen und der Abt Sartorius lies an ihrer Stelle eine Kapelle zu Ehren des Hl. Wenzels erbauen. Auch die Kapelle hat jedoch dem nächsten großen Brand der Stadt 1684 nicht standgehalten und der Abt Zinke entschied sich, an ihrer Stelle eine neue Kirche zu bauen. Mit dem Bau beauftragte er K. I. Dientzenhofer. Im Jahre 1729 wurde die Kirche fertiggestellt und dem Hl. Wenzel geweiht. Das Interieur der Kirche wurde erst zur Zeit des Abts Benno Löbel 1784 gestaltet, Autor der großen Freskoabbildung der Glorifizierung vom Hl. Wenzel ist der schlesische Maler F. A. Scheffler. Das Bild am Hauptaltar, das den Hl. Wenzel und den Hl. Jan Nepomuk darstellt, malte im 19. Jahrhundert Wilhelm Kandier. Der Kirchengrundriss hat die Form vom langgezogenen griechischen Kreuz, an das rechteckige Presbyterium schließt eine Halbkreisapside an. Anfang der 50. Jahre des 20. Jahrhunderts wurde die Kirche geschlossen und als Lager verwendet. Der heruntergekommene Bau mit eingeschlagenen Fenstern wirkte sehr depressiv. Nach einem anspruchsvollen Umbau und Restaurierung Schefflers Freskobildes, wurde die renovierte Kirche am Tag des Hl. Wenzels am 28. Sept. 1995 neu eingeweiht und dient seitdem wieder seinem ursprünglichen Zweck.
Die Kirchengruppe von Broumov
Als eine einzigartige architektonische Sehenswürdigkeit der Region gelten die Barock-kirchen der sog. "Broumov-Gruppe", gebaut auf den Ländereien der Klosterherrschaft von Broumov nach Vorlage des Christoph Dientzenhofer und seines Sohnes Kilian Ignaz. Die Kirchen wurden innerhalb einer relativ kurzen Zeit gebaut, zwischen 1709 - 43. Sie entstanden als Folge eines ungewöhnlichen Bau- und Wirtschafts-booms, aus der Initiative des Abtes Otmar Zinke -eines sehr tüchtigen Vorstehers der Benediktinerabtei von Brevnov-Broumov. Diese Landkirchen zeugen, trotz ihrer unbestritten sparsamen Lösung, von Einzigartigkeit und künstlerischer Originalität ihrer berühmten Autoren - Vater und Sohn Dientzenhofer. Es handelt sich um folgende Bauten: Kirche des Hl. Prokop in Bezdekov, Kirche der Hl. Maria Magdalena in Božanov, Kirche des Hl. Wenzels in Broumov, Kirche Aller Heiligen in Hermánkovice, Kirche der Hl. Barbara in Otovice, Kirche des Hl. Jakob des Größeren in Ruprechtice, Kirche der Hl. Marketa in Šonov, Kirche des Hl. Michael in Vernérovice, Kirche der Hl. Anna in Vižnov und die Kapelle der Jungfrau Maria (auch „Hvezda" (Stern) genannt) auf dem Kamm der Broumov Felswände.
