the cache is located near a concrete structure at the west end of paseo avenue. you must travel the last 3/4 mile on a gravel road. the old structure caught my eye because of the date "1922" which is etched on it.
in 1922 "little orphan annie" made her first appearance in the comics. charles schultz, the creator of peanuts, was born. the first U.S. aircraft carrier was launched, and the first slalom ski race was held (in switzerland). singers judy garland and judy holliday were born. actors ava gardner, shelley winters, carl reiner, carroll o'conner, and jason robards were born. in sports, george allen, ralph kiner, and rocky graziano were born. nansen, of norway, won the nobel peace prize. and, perhaps most exciting of all, the eskimo pie made its debut...
