This is my first Cache hope every one who visits it enjoys the location as much as I have. Watch for snakes in summer months. In winter the hike may be slick and muddy.
Welcome to Ewing Reservoir (Hayfork Reservoir) The Reservoir has some great fishing. Large mouth bass, Trout, Crappie, Catfish and Bluegill maybe taken here. Follow all rules and laws regarding fishing. This is also a nice place to see deer, bobcat, grey squirrels, ducks, song birds and many other critters. The hike around the Reservoir is very scenic and the terrain is not difficult.
As the title says “Fish Can’t Swim” You can fish here but there is no swimming allowed. The only public restrooms are near the parking area, and there are no water fountains available so bring your own supply. I grew up fishing this Reservoir. Ewing Reservoir was built in the 1970’s My dad and I would 4x4 in his Jeep during its construction, the ride was a lot of fun.
The Cache is a ½ gallon nut jar painted grey, black and brown. For FTF I have place a new unopened Luhr-Jensen Bass Plug 5/16oz. Also included in the cache are the following: Check book register (Log Book) and a pencil, an Altoid’s Tin with 8lb leader material, 3 crappie jigs, 3 hooks, 2 jig heads, a small red hook keeper, 2 snap swivels, 1 #3 Blue Fox Spinner, 2 ½oz sinkers. There is also a film canister with 2 rubber worms, 1 Little Cleo Spoon, 1 #2 Spinner. Other Contents in the original cache include a bobber, rain gage, 5ft tape measure and 1 rubber hand ball. Every thing is in here to catch a fish except the fishing rod. Bring one or use a stick if you like.
