Cache is not at the posted coordinates but is nearby. This area of
Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline was named in memory of
Frederick Van Horn Garretson in 1982. Mr. Garretson -"Skip" to his
friends- worked for the Oakland Tribune his entire career,
beginning in 1954 as a copyboy before becoming a reporter. His
stories on the Bay and Delta won numerous local and national
awards. He is the person most often credited with raising public
awareness of the need to take drastic action to avert environmental
destruction of the San Francisco Bay and the San Joaquin-Sacramento
River Delta estuarine system. To find the cache go to the posted
coordinates and look around. Count the number of picnic tables and
bar-b-que grills at this spot. Add the two numbers together. Next
find "Nathan's" tree. From "Nathan's" tree, walk that number of
steps toward the Bay Farm Island-Alameda Bridge. Now you're there
so just find it and log it. The cache is a 35mm film can.
