Geocache Description:

Another short hike in a beautiful Open Space Preserve !

The Purisima Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve is located on the western slopes of the Santa Cruz Mountains overlooking Half Moon Bay. The preserve was established with a gift of $2 million from the Save-the-Redwoods League. The centerpiece of this 3,120-acre preserve is Purisima Creek Canyon, with its towering redwoods, rushing creek, and understory of ferns, berries, and wildflowers.

The cache is a large partially camoflauged ammo can and is located just a few feet off the Bay Area Ridge Trail, if you only go as far as the cache it is roughly a 1.1 mile round trip hike, but you will most likely want to go further and explore the area more. The trail is in good shape but the climb back out of the canyon can be strenuous depending on how far you go.

At the time the cache was placed it contained the following items -

2 - New Emergency Storm Ponchos

New Compass / Thermometer Keychain

New Waterproof Matchbox

New Miltec Multi Light

New Whistle / Compass / Thermometer Combo Device

Mosquito & Tick Wipes

Walt Disney Monsters Inc. Charachter Light

Large Bison Tube

Small Bison Tube

Pez Dispenser

CITO Kit

2ea New AA Batteries

Camera for cache pictures, please take a picture, but leave the camera with the cache !

This area much like all parks in this region can be a bit challenging for GPS reception, the best I could do was 35ft accuracy, but that should get you close enough, don't be afraid to use the hint !, enjoy the cache, enjoy the beautiful area, and have fun !

*Note: somewhere between the car and the cache area I lost the logbook so I had to improvise, sorry about that
