East: Davis Community Gardens
This cache has been placed on the edge of the Davis Community
Gardens. Of special interest is the information on composting
very near the cache itself. It is worth reading, and composting
is one of the best things you can do to help the environment.
Parking near this cache is ok on the north side of the street, but
is illegal on the south side of the street.
Gardens of Delight
These 2 caches are placed near community gardens. The gardens
in these areas can be particularly beautiful, especially during
the spring time. I highly recommend you wander around the areas
where the caches are.
These caches were a community effort themselves in their
creation. During my wandering through geocaches, I've noticed
that many people have signature items which are animal-themed.
Slowly for the last year I've been trading for many of these items
all over the country and these two caches are populated with the
results. The trade items in these caches all started with animal
themes, almost all of which can be found in gardens of one type or
another. You're welcome to leave other items, but if you trade
for a garden creature please leave one in exchange. Thus, many of
you, the geocaching community, have contributed to this cache.
The cache containers were presents from my sister (they think
I'm a bit weird asking for rubber-maid containers as gift items).
Some of the animals inside were presents from my father. My
daughter helped create the caches by dividing up the animals into
the two caches and you'll notice that one of the cache tops has
the word "geocache" written in the hand writing of a 4-year
old.
Finally, gardens need sun and rain to survive, so one of the
caches was placed on a sunny day and one was placed on an overcast
day.
