In celebration of the restored Weekend Service I’ve placed a cache
in a location where you can see the trains go by in the distance
and look at some un-restored Peninsula train history. If you visit
the nearby structures BE CAREFUL and DON’T CLIMB ANY FENCES.
The largest structure has some nice graffiti that can be seen
through the “window”.
These coordinates are for the corner of Geneva Av. and Bayshore
Blvd. on the Brisbane – Daly City border. This is a good place to
park and the actual cache is within 0.5 miles. Alternative parking
is available at the Bayshore train station (N37 42.495 W122
24.068). For those that are adventurous you may be able to drive to
near the cache. BE WARNED, there are many metal objects in the area
that will puncture your tires and AAA won’t help you out.
Finding the Cache will take some work. On the front cover of the
CalTrain Caches listed below you will find a letter and a number
(i. e. letter = number). Collect the letters and numbers and put
the number into the formula N 37 42.ABC W 122 24.DEF to find the
cache.
CalTrain – 22nd St. (GCG9HG)
CalTrain – Millbrae (GCG15P)
CalTrain – Burlingame (GCG5VQ)
CalTrain – Hayward Park (GCG5H9)
CalTrain – San Carlos (GCE2D3)
CalTrain – Redwood City (GCG5GZ)
If you are new to the CalTrain series this will be your chance
to get 7 caches (8 if you find the nearby CalTrain – Bayshore #2
(GCQA24) cache).
The container is a small Tupperware container with the usual
assortment of stuff.
