A quick stop along Highway 299 to stretch your legs and look around before continuing on down the road.
This is a monument to a local legend. This statue of him is well liked by the locals. I have seen him holding everything from a beer bottle, to a yellow ribbon right after the first Gulf War. There are several statues of him in town, but this one is my favorite, as it has been around for over 30 years. It used to be on the other side of 299, welcoming visitors into town as they came in from the coast.
This guy does get around, and has been for a long time. To "find" this virtual, please answer the following questions. As always, please don't post your answers as part of your visit. Thanks!!
1: Who does this statue depict?
2: From the sign next to the statue: What is one of the indian names for him?
3: Where might you find him? (What are his wandering grounds?)
4:What time of the day might you run into him?
Thanks for visiting. I hope you find the spot interesting. Just around the corner from the cache is a neat museum with another statue of this guy.
Keep on caching!
