Geocache Description:

Dundas

- PADDLIN' #1 -

The 14,655ha Warby‐Ovens National Park is characterised by three distinct vegetation communities. This cache will bring you to the River Red Gum forest and wetlands of the unregulated Ovens Heritage River. Spring floodwaters from the mountains revive the wetlands of the Lower Ovens attracting water birds and triggering breeding of a host of aquatic wildlife.

At certain times of the year the trails will be dry, other times wet and muddy. There is a couple of small water crossings in the area but there are ways around them if you explore all the trails. When the flood waters arrive some of this area will be inaccessible.

This cache will bring you to a beautiful and tranquil area on the river. This location can be quite busy, fishermen really like it! The cache is a small screw top container hanging from a tree over the water. Please use stealth during the busier times of the year and watch out for wriggly sticks!
