Mt Seldom Seen Firetower
The original tower was constructed in 1958 but it burnt down in the 1965 bushfires. The current tower has been there ever since. The original hut was 2km below the tower, the first towerman rode his horse to work, and the hut was shifted in 1965. The hut burnt down after a 'party' in 1980 and was replaced by a more modern hut.

It has been 12 months since a lightning strike started the first flames of a catastrophic summer of fires across drought-affected East Gippsland.
Many areas still have little or no regrowth. Mt Seldom Seen is slowly recovering. Fortunately the fire tower survived the devastation.
From the base of the tower you can also see one stand of trees to the south that was not burnt. This was most likely due to resource protection, fire retardent dropped from water bombing aircraft. (The cache is not in these trees)
The previous cache here - GC86YF2 - Seldom Seen (Now archived) - was not far away and the tree which sheltered it is now a one metre deep crater, the roots (and the cache) having been completely consumed by the intense bushfire.
With the regrowth there are many wildflowers springing up all throughout the area and it is well worth your while to stop and admire them.
Also quite a few different species of butterfies, birds and lizards can be seen.
(Although we didn't see any snakes you can bet there are many throughout the hills. - Beware!)
THE CACHE
The posted coordinates bring you to the top of Lookout Track.
To find the new cache you will need to visit the firetower and make a few observations.
(There is no need to climb the tower but if Sean sticks his head out, be sure to say g'day.)
On one of the fences you will see a white sign (TEMCF2330-M) with the numbers abc/dfg
Nearby, on the same fence is a blue sign (TE3GIS933-M) with the numbers hjk/lmn
Count the solar panels on the larger array = pq
To work out the final coordinates:
k = R
g = T
q/2 = U
p/2 = V
m-h = W
f-d = X
g+c = Y
m-n = Z
The cache can be found at: S37° 0R.TUV E148° 1W.XYZ
Checksum: S = 22, E = 24
GeoCheck added 3/4/21
A vehicle with higher ground clearance would be advisable to drive to the final location.
I suggest walking the last few hundred metres.
