Santa Teresinha
Este é um monumento erguido em homenagem a Santa Teresinha, constituído por um nicho com três arcos à volta e, no cimo, uma estátua de Cristo na cruz, fica localizado no concelho da Ponta do Sol.
This is a monument raised in honour of Saint Theresa, builded by a niche with three arcs, and on the top, a statue of Christ in the cross. It's located at Ponta do Sol's county.
Santa Teresa do Menino Jesus, nasceu em Alençon (França) no ano 1873. Entrou ainda muito jovem no mosteiro das Carmelitas de Lisieux e exercitou-se de modo singular na humildade, simplicidade evangélica e confiança em Deus, virtudes que também procurou inculcar especialmente nas noviças do seu mosteiro. Morreu a 30 de Setembro de 1897, oferecendo a sua vida pela salvação das almas e pela Igreja.
Saint Theresa of Baby Jesus, was born in Alencon (France) in the year 1873. She entered still very young in the monestery of Carmelitas of Lisieux e exercised herself in a very unique way in humility, envangelic simplicity and trust in God, virtues that she tried to inculcate specialy in the monestery novices. She died at September 30th 1897, offering her life for the salvation of souls and the church.
No dia 17 de Maio de 1925, foi canonizada pelo Papa Pio XI , que, dois anos mais tarde, em 1927, a proclamou padroeira das missões. Em 1997, João Paulo II proclamou-a Doutora da Igreja.
On May 17th 1925, she was canonized by de pope Pio XI, that, two years later, in 1927, proclaimed her patroness of the missions. In 1997, John Paul II proclaimed her doctor of the church.

Este monumento situado na freguesia dos Canhas, concelho da Ponta de Sol, consagrado a Santa Teresinha, foi construído por iniciativa de D. Matilde de Trindade Cabral, sendo inaugurado a 31 de Maio de 1964. Autoria dos escultores portugueses, Anjos Teixeira e José Ferreira Tadim, tem ainda englobado, uma representação da via-sacra, com as estações a percorrerem um trajecto pela estrada regional até ao monumento.
This monument located at the Canhas parish, Ponta do Sol's municipality, consagrated to Saint Theresa, was built by iniciative of D. Matilde de Trindade Cabral, being inaugurated at May 31st 1964. Made by the portuguese sculptures Anjos Teixeira and José Ferreira Tadim, it has still encompassed, a representation of the way of the cross, with the stations going thru a route on the regional road to the monument.
