I came up here to help a friend with some research and when I saw the name of the street (Castac View Road) I knew that it would have a great view of Castac Lake. This lake is located on the Fort Tejon property and you really can't get a great view of it from anywhere although you can glimpse it from the freeway. From up here, although a bit distant, you can see the entire lake.
The lake is sometimes referred to as the Tejon lake because it is on the Tejon Ranch property, but it is actually named Lake Castac after the local indian population from a century ago. Castaic Lake, which it is sometimes confused with, is about 30 minutes south on the I-5 in Castaic, California. This is the one WITHOUT the "i".
The cache is a black tupperware container large enough to hold several travel bugs although there is a great TB hotel near the freeway. I've placed some toys, some digifish I picked up somewhere and some foreign coins and a $1 Presidential coin for TFTC. I can't remember if I left a pen in there.... so bring one just in case. Please put back and over up as best as possible. This is a pretty low traffic area, but better safe than sorry.
Note: The road up here is not paved. I came up fine with my little Sentra and several of the residents up here have similar cars. But keep in mind that it is a bit bumpy like any unpaved road - drive slow. And please watch out for little dogs, there is one resident that likes to keep his gate open and the little yappers like to chase the cars. Harmless little thing, but don't want to hit him.
