Dutchmaster

John vanBaal

Geocachers who have cached in Eastern Ontario have long enjoyed finding a "Dutchmaster" cache. Since John placed his first cache, The "Burgh" (GCHY89) in March 0f 2004, hundreds of cachers have mused "However did he find this spot?" The mystery continues to this day, but suffice to say Dutch has provided a fresh, sometimes whimsical look at the history of Eastern Ontario. Whether it be an abandoned foundation down an overgrown path in the forest, or a building engraved with the names of those who lived here long before us, John has entertained, enlightened and educated us to a time when our ancestors built this area. We thank you John for the fun.

The cache is at the posted coordinates

But before it can be logged, the finder must have completed the following  easy challenge!

There are 5 counties in Eastern Ontario

Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry

Prescott Russell

Leeds & Grenville

Ottawa

Lanark.

In order to log this cache , the finder will have to display to the cache owner, that they have found at least 1 cache in each of the 5 counties.

Extra marks if they include a Dutchmaster cache (there are 25 still active)

Any means of reporting will be acceptable but must include the GC code and date.

Have fun and stay safe.

Special congratulations to Stonefly626 and Navi-gatr from the West Island of Montreal, who collected their 5 qualifying caches in 1 day!
It is with great sorrow that I must add that geocaching friend John passed away on March 2 2012. His geocaching legacy will remain in our hearts and memories forever.
