Principale porte d’entrée de la ville de Lausanne, la gare en est également l’un de ses monuments les plus importants. Elle a fait l’objet, entre 1992 et 1996, d’une restauration ambitieuse aboutissant à une remarquable mise en valeur.

C’est en 1908 qu’un concours est lancé pour reconstruire la gare de Lausanne. Un premier bâtiment datant de 1856 ne répond alors plus aux besoins. En 1906, l’ouverture du tunnel du Simplon a fait de Lausanne le lieu d’un énorme transit et il s’agit d’offrir à la ville une gare correspondant à cette nouvelle donne. Le concours est remporté par les bureaux d’architectes Monod & Laverrière et Taillens & Dubois.

L’édifice présente une façade de plus de 200 mètres de long. L’effort des architectes s’est porté sur son animation. Quatre pavillons, le hall central, massif et saillant, et trois pavillons latéraux, s’en détachent de manière asymétrique. De longues baies inspirées du style verticaliste allemand rythment le tout, apportant une lumière abondante.

L’ornementation décline un vocabulaire Art Nouveau discret et raffiné. A l’ouest, le buffet conserve pratiquement son état d’origine avec ses boiseries et ses panneaux peints de 1916 représentant les principales destinations atteignables depuis Lausanne.

Vu la difficulté de parquer à Lausanne et aux alentours de la gare (le parking souterrain est assez cher), il est fortement recommandé de venir en transports publics.

Vous ne devez, EN AUCUN CAS:

• sortir des zones réservées au public
• franchir les lignes blanches situées au bord des quais, donc engager le gabarit des trains
• monter sur un objet, risquant ainsi de vous rapprocher dangereusement des lignes à haute tension (la cache finale n'est pas en hauteur.

Der Bahnhof bildet nicht nur das wichtigste Eingangstor zur Stadt Lausanne, sondern ist auch eines ihrer bedeutendsten Baudenkmäler. Durch eine sorgfältige Restaurierung in den Jahren 1992 bis 1996 wurde er stark aufgewertet.

1908 wurde ein Wettbewerb für den Umbau des Lausanner Bahnhofs ausgeschrieben. Ein erstes Gebäude aus dem Jahr 1856 entsprach nicht mehr den Bedürfnissen. Denn mit der Eröffnung des Simplontunnels im Jahr 1906 wurde Lausanne zu einem wichtigen Durchgangsort, und der Bahnhof sollte der neuen Bedeutung der Stadt entsprechen. Der Wettbewerb wurde von den Architekturbüros Monod & Laverrière und Taillens & Dubois gewonnen.

Die Architekten bemühten sich, die über 200 Meter lange Fassade des Gebäudes aufzulockern. Ich habe einen einfachen Mystery-Cache gemacht, damit Sie sich die Zeit zu vertreiben können während des Wartens auf den Zug. Die Cache ist zugänglich mit einem Kinderwagen.

The main means of entry into the city of Lausanne, the train station is also one of its most important monuments. Between 1992 and 1996, it was ambitiously restored and its remarkable value was underlined.

In 1908, a competition was announced for the reconstruction of Lausanne’s train station. An earlier building, dating back to 1856, was no longer sufficient. In 1906, the opening of the Simplon tunnel created an enormous amount of traffic for Lausanne, and the city needed a train station that was suitable for this new situation. The building’s façade is more than 200 metres long. The architects focused their efforts on its use. Given the difficulty of parking in Lausanne and around the station (the underground car park is quite expensive), it is strongly recommended to come by public transport.

The cache is not at the starting coordinates, first you must solve this puzzle.

• out of areas reserved for public
• cross the white line along the quays, and hence engage the gauge trains
• mounted on an object, potentially you dangerously close to power lines (the final cache is not in height)
