SurfCal original c/o:
Otis Redding sang, "sitting on the dock of the bay, watching the tide roll away." You're in for a treat when you find this location, for it has the tides, the world famous Golden Gate Bridge, the Rock (Alcatraz) and mist from the bay.
Please replace the cache carefully and keep it well hidden. There are those pesky muggles all the time so be stealthy. It's a smallish container so bring small stuff. Beware, it's tricky to find, but enjoy the hunt, it's a lot like looking for Easter eggs!
Come visit one of San Francisco's busiest Geocaching spots. And if you can, post some pictures, they're fun to see. This is a great cache if you're biking or just a place to chill out. My appreciation to the folks who help maintain and keep this cache going and keeping it as accessible as long as it has. What a great sense of community.
The hide started as a slight scramble just beyond the Wave Organ platform, then it gained an ADA ramp, and now becomes a scramble again. Look 3 feet east of a fallen granite mausoleum arch.
Bthomas, 3/13/25: I found this iconic San Francisco geocache a few months after it was placed back in 2002. I’ve taken care of it for the past decade and have been it’s adopted C/O for 5 years. Each time I come out here, it takes my breath away and restores good feelings about my day.
Mr V Troop 3, 3/14/2025:This location is very special to me and my family - we have been very good friends with the creator of the Wave Organ years before the piece was put in place. Mrs. V and I have made many visits to the site to pick up litter and remove graffiti. In fact our oldest sons eagle scout project was doing landscaping here. We found this cache on 5/29/2018 and adopted it on 3/13/2025. Many thanks to bthomas for maintaining this cache for so many years, thanks for passing the torch on to me. To all future geocachers - enjoy the view and terrific location, welcome to San Francisco - Cache On!
