Geocache Description:

The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates!
(Which is good because the posted coordinates take you to the middle of Shaganappi Trail, and we wouldn't want you playing in traffic!)


The birds have gotten their eggs scrambled! In order to find the cache, you need to figure out what eggs belong to what birds.

A: Osprey eggs are tan or cream with deep red to brown speckling. They are found on every continent but Antartica and breeds on every landmass it's found but one, South America.

B: Canada Goose eggs are large and creamy white. There are at least 11 different species of Canada Geese.

C: Killdeer eggs are creamy white with brown to black speckling and are slightly pointed. The killdeer frequently uses a "broken wing act" to distract predators from the nest.

D: Robin's eggs are vibrant to pale cyan blue. The first recorded use of robin egg blue as a color name (in English) was in 1873.

E: The Common Loon's large eggs are dark olive to brown. The loon can dive more than 250 feet below the water's surface.

F: Great Egret's eggs are large and greenish. They have all white plumage, and during breeding season they bore delicate, ornamental feathers along their back.

G: American Crow eggs are pale greenish-blue with brown speckling. American Crows are familiar over much of the continent: large, intelligent, all-black birds with hoarse, cawing voices.

H: Bald Eagle eggs are large and white. It is the national bird of the United States and appears on the majority of its official seals.

I: Great Blue Heron eggs are large and pale greenish-blue. More than 1,000 great blue herons nest each year on La Grande Île in Lac Saint-Pierre near Montréal.

J: Northern Mockingbird eggs are small and pale green with tan to brown speckling. It will defend its territory, attacking intruders including house pets and even people.

There is NO access to the park the cache is in from Shaganappi but it is easy access to the park from the back alley. For your convenience, three entrances to the back alley are posted.
