Rødgrød med fløde Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Rastcore: I owe a tremendous apology to Grunriese - I checked for the cache the day after his DNF, and it was still there, but I never logged that or notified him. And he was the first to solve! :-/

I checked today and it appears a large tree branch fell and wiped out the cache's hiding place - I could find no evidence of the hiding place or cache. So I am archiving it.

Thank you to all who worked to solve, and find, the cache! Both the puzzle and hide turned out to be a bit trickier than we intended. We have not been actively geocaching in a few years, but we are particularly fond of Glen Providence Park, so perhaps we will hide another one in the park. :-)

Geocache Description:

CACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED COORDINATES.

It's the cache you can't pronounce! Rødgrød med fløde is a yummy Danish dish (berry pudding with cream!) that is almost impossible for non-Danes to say properly. SO hard to pronounce that according to legend, in World War II Denmark, border guards would identify German infiltrators by making them say it. You can hear it said for yourself: (visit link) There are even funny YouTube videos about pronouncing it. Here is a recipe, if you'd like to try it: (visit link)

Fun Facts (or invaluable information?):

- Denmark's highest point is Yding Skovhøj, at a dizzying altitude of 566 feet. At the cache location, your elevation will be almost half way there!
- Lego was invented in Denmark in 1949. The modern Lego brick was patented on January 28, 1958; bricks from that year are still compatible with current bricks!
- Denmark has not adopted the euro (€); its currency the krone (kr or DKK) is divided into 100 øre.
- The international calling code for Denmark is 45 (don't forget the exit code for the USA is 011!).
- Picturesque Skagen is Denmark's northernmost town, its coordinates are
N 57° 43.387 E 010° 35.872.

You can check your answers for this puzzle on geochecker.com: (visit link) No spoilers in your logs or photos, please!

As with the rest of this park, GPS readings can be jumpy.
Please use stealth & re-hide carefully.

Logistics:

Coordinates are for parking (& great sledding!). You can also park at Third & Kirk or Third & West. There are currently 3 other caches hidden in Glen Providence Park. Here's a link to an annotated trail map: (visit link) and lots more information about this park: (visit link) - we encourage you to explore it all! Park is open dawn to dusk.

As you approach the nearby trails from GZ, you will have a lovely view of the woods. Look for deer, and take a moment to enjoy the scenery.

Container is just big enough for very small tradeables, like Danish øre! Started with small pencil, but BYOP. Unactivated FTF geocoin and øre for the FTF.

A warm tillykke to BenamBenam3 and Pitch_Black for their FTF! Hmm, Viking blood... that would explain it!
