Geocache Description:

Sam Hill was a euphemism or minced oath for "hell" used in the late 1830's of unknown origin. If you go directly to the cache from the parking area you will be using some expletive deleted words.

In the Maryhill area Sam Hill was a millionaire businessman and advocate of paved roads for the Pacific Northwest. One of the first paved roads is in this area. You can see the Stonehenge memorial from this location. There are also other areas of interest that he is responsible for in this area. See the website, Maryhill Museum DO NOT GO DIRECTLY TO THE CACHE FROM THE PARKING AREA. IT IS STEEP AND SLIPPERY. Use the less steep semicircular approach via the guard rail.
