Geocache Description:

Guilfoyle's Volcano was originally begun and conceived in 1876 by the botanical gardens second director William Guilfoyle.

He never completed the project and the bluestone reservoir that holds 1.3 million litre's of water has laid overgrown and empty until the completion of a 3 year restoration project in 2010.

It is a combination of the decorative and the practical in its design. The reservoir will help irrigate the gardens with run off from storm
water drainage and a path that leads up to the crater is planted with succulants and red rock lava flows.

The gates are open from 7:30am - Sunset.
