This cache has been placed in response to a question from young Rory of wellstrand tribe. He asked me "why aren't there any caches in Mundijong?". Of course if an adult cacher had asked that question my response would probably have been "Because you haven't placed one there yet".
The WanderingAus tribe, including the WanderingMrs (aka SWMBO), LinkenAxe (aka Axcel and Ethan), their sister Mikayla, our son Shane, and his two geokids Sophie and Ryan, had been invited to visit the Wellstrand dairy farm, and we were very well looked after by Lisa and Rory for a very interesting and informative afternoon. To hear Axcel, Ethan and Mikayla talk of it the next day it was definitely a highlight of the school holidays.
As a special thank you to Lisa and Rory and wellstrand tribe I decided to pop down to Mundijong and place a cache there. At the right time of the year it should prove to be a wildflower wonderland, as the meander to the cache follows a "flora trail".
The cache is not at the above co-ords but it is where you will find some information which will assist you to locate GZ. You are looking for a plaque attached to what appears to have been a water bubbler, sadly now in disrepair.
There are two dates on the plaque. Convert those dates to the format ddmmyyyy. Ignore all zeros and use the other numbers to get ABCDEFGHJKL.
Waypoint 2 can be found at S32 17.(C+K)B(E-D) E115 59.K(C-A)(E-L). You are looking for a metal plate with a 6 digit number MNPQRS attached to a power pole.
Update 9 Feb 11:
bunny bashers logged for waypoint 3 "looks like new pole placed here and no metal plate on it", so I've modified the cache to skip 3 until I can get down and check it. Note that there is a change to Waypoint 4 and GZ.
Waypoint 4 can be found at S32 16.E(H+L)R E115 59.SK(C-D) You are looking for another metal plate with a 5 digit number YZ@$%, attached to a power pole. Near this pole you will see a gate, once you've solved GZ you can proceed via this gateway towards GZ. If you have driven here you will see a suitable parking spot on the opposite side of the road about 50 metres further along. Please park there and be careful crossing the road.
The cache can be found at S32 16.(M+Q)$(H-F) E115 59.(S-P)Z(%-S)
The cache is a drab camo'd 2 litre round screw-top container, with log book, finders cards, pen, two pencils, a pencil sharpener, and a few swaps.
Please re-seal the container tightly when you are finished, and be sure to re-hide well with the available material.
This cache is part of a series leading towards my GC29MXD WanAus 179 - Discover Western Australia cache, replacing GC1Z94V WanAus 136 - Merredin Howitzer which had replaced GC1QYF1 WanAus 90 - Chevy Chase. The appropriate DWA number is in the back of the log book.
You will need to record this number in the format 90? (from WanAus 90 and ? for the DWA number) for future reference. Note that the number is NOT to be recorded as 176 n, 179 n or 136 n. In fairness to those who found GC1QYF1 WanAus 90 - Chevy Chase or WanAus 136 - Merredin Howitzer and recorded the DWA number, the calculations remain unchanged.
This is just a suggestion, but it may help you to keep track of the DWA numbers.
Every cache page has "*Personal Cache Note" *Click to enter a note, just above Geocache Description:
You could either add the code to each individual cache,
or add all numbers to GC29MXD WanAus 179 - Discover Western Australia.
When trading items please consider trading up or trading even and leaving items that you would want to find, and please don't take the pen, pencils or sharpener. If you can't trade up or trade even I don't mind seeing TNLNSL in the log. Also please don't put the pen or pencils in the log book bag, it tends to destroy the watertight integrity.
Trackables (geocoins and travel bugs) are not tradeable items. Please feel free to take them without making a trade, but please leave a note in the logbook and your online log, and do log them online.
