Geocache Description:

Come celebrate 10 years of Geocaching with a little breakfast celebration!
8:45am-10:00am
More details to come. Breakfast items available nearby. Bring a lawn chair.

A group picture will be taken at 9:30

Come and listen to a story about a man named Dave,
An early GPS owner who couldn't get a fix on a cave.
Then one day, the law was signed, allowing consumer clarity,
and they turned off Selective Availability.
Descrambled that is; accuracy; waypoints in view.

Well, the first thing you know, ol' Dave's placed a cache
posted to the net, and called it a stash.
Reminders of letterboxing; orienteering; hidden supplies.

It didn't take long for the bucket to be found,
posted on the newsgroup, pass the word around.
Signed the log; trading; thanks to the owner.

It wasn't long before others were hiding in the game
Outgrowing the spreadsheet and becoming a domain!
Geocaching that is; Groundspeak; luck of the Irish.

10 years later, Dave's idea still grows.
More than million active caches as we search for zeros.
Community that is; events; 10 year celebration.

10 years ago, at the begining of May 2000, the scrambling of consumer GPS receivers was turned off, allowing the average user to pinpoint items in the field down below 30 foot accuracy. It didn't take long at all for someone to figure out that you could also use it to mark the location of a hidden item and share it on the internet. And thus the game of Geocaching was born!

A win-it-only GCCO Gold coin will be awarded at the event - donated by the GCCO state group
