Geocache Description:

A courier just delivered a handwritten message to your door. It reads:

My dear friend and intrepid traveler,

After much planning, I have prepared a new and exciting challenge for you. Called Around the World in 80 Caches!, it requires patience, ingenuity, and the ability to handle the unexpected. In this journey, you will be venturing into several countries, 80 in all, in search of concealed artifacts. The countries will lead you to continents, and the continents will lead you to the ultimate prize, hereafter known as "The World." Based on your experience and past adventures, I am confident you will succeed. As always, travel safe and be sure to document your findings. I look forward to hearing all about your grand expedition.

Your great admirer,

Jules Verne

IMPORTANT NOTE: Information in this cache will help you solve South America: ATW80 (GC1MGCB), a puzzle cache tied to the related countries.

Boa vinda a Brasil. Nós esperamos que você aprecia em torno do mundo em 80 caches.

When Portugal made the journey across the Atlantic, Admiral Pedro Álvares Cabral claimed the territory for Portugal. The early explorers brought back a wood that produced a red dye, named pau-brasil, from which the land eventually received its name. Portugal colonized Brazil in 1532 and made the area a royal colony in 1549.

After several centuries Brazil had major conflicts with the Portuguese and on September 7, 1822 a man by the name of Dom Pedro the First declared independence for Brazil, establishing the independent Empire of Brazil.

A few fun facts about Brazil:

Brazil is the largest country in South America.
Brazil has more species of monkeys than any other country
Brazil has the widest road in the world, Monumental Axis. 160 cars can drive side by side.
Brazil's national dish is feijoada, made of black beans, dried beef, and pork.
Brazil has the third largest city in the world, Sao Paulo
Brazil has the largest stadium in the world, Maracana in Rio de Janeiro
Brazil's paper currency is horizontal on one side and vertical on the other side
Brazil's national sport is futebol (soccer).
Brazil is the only country to play in every World Cup and win it five times.

We have replaced this cache three times, so we are giving up on the camo'd soccer ball. We are now using a decon container. If it is taken, at least it is easier to replace.

FTF: $1 real note...STF is the other $1 Real note.

The paper money that was in the original cache is gone. We have one more real note but want to wait a while to see if this one gets muggled.

Special thanks to IWillFindIt for providing the Brazilian currency.

Boa sorte no descanso de seu desengate
