Geocache Description:

Nano cache in Japanese Botanical Garden:
This garden opened in 1953. The circumference of the garden is 540 m. There currently are 400 different kinds of medical herbs and trees planted in this garden. The garden is open all year, 7 days a week. The garden opens at 8:30 AM and closes at 5:00 PM, but the last admission is 4:30 PM.

History:

In the 1670’s the Mastsudaira clan experimented with cultivated herbs in large gardens. Local citizens were encouraged by the clan to grow their own unique herbs in the lord’s gardens. Due to the large amount of creative plant placements by local citizens the garden quickly became unorganized. The lords decided they needed a professional garden scheme. The design fell into the hands of Meguro Jotei, a typical Edo era garden landscaper. He arranged the garden to best showcase the most colorful herbs and trees while still maintaining the serene natural backdrop of Aizu’s mountains and forests. The garden has been a hit with locals and visitors alike ever since.

I hid the cache inside the garden. I found a place that I thought would protect it from the snow, from the mugglers, and that would be fun to search for.
