Friar Tuck Throws a Party Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

geodarts: I came up here with a new container and a bag in case any cito was necessary. But there is now a shiny fence enclosing the area - not a place Tuck would want to party.

Geocache Description:

Journey past the Sherwood Forest Fire Road and discover more the secrets of Robin and his merry followers.

The tales portray Friar Tuck in many different ways -- from a skilled swordsman and archer to being a fat, bald and jovial monk.

Regardless of Tuck's skill with a sword, the bards agree that he loved ale and a good party. His contributions to that end helped keep the Merry Men merry. And it also seems that he had little respect for authority (perhaps even being a Discordian follower of Zarathud the Incorrigible), which is why Robin asked Tuck to preside at the marriage of Alan-a-Dale and Ellen in defiance of the Bishop's orders.

The party that Tuck hosted afterwards was legendary. Secret signals were used to make sure the villagers knew where to go. And the rest of Alan's band, the Nottingham Greenwoods, performed late into the night. Years later, even some of the Sheriff's own men swore they had been there.

The structure at the cache location may have been used to carry the signals from the valleys to the mountains. Special thanks to bkip for spotting this location and placing the first cache here.
