The cache is an ammo box placed off the main trails but still accessible by smaller trails. Bushwhacking should not be necessary, but following a game trail might be. Congratulations to nomadru for being the first to find this cache.
I placed this cache while out hiking near Calavera Lake and Cerro de la Calavera. I like getting off the main trails and seeing where the smaller trails lead. The cache is near "the base of skull" and offers a slight (very slight) view of the lake and a good view of the surrounding area. Parking and access is available from several areas including College Blvd., Sky Haven Ave., or Oak Riparian Park. I placed the cache .34 miles as the crow files from where I parked, but because I am a coyote and not a crow, the hike was .7 miles. Your mileage may vary.
