Tämä kätkösarja vie kävelylle Kustavin Lootholmaan. Matkalla kurkistetaan Kustavin historiaan ja Volter Kilven Kirkolle-kirjan loppupuolen maisemiin. Kätköalue on auki kesäisin, jolloin ensimmäisen kätkön lähelle pääsee parkkeeraamaan auton. Mitään pääsymaksua ei ole. Sesongin ulkopuolella alueelle pääsee jalkaisin, ja alueen omistajalta on lupa geoseikkailuun. Kätköistä löytyy vihjeitä bonuskätkön löytämiseen. Hauskaa kävelyä!
Mäen päällä kulkee polku grillauspaikan ohi. Mäeltä näkee Volter Kilven Kirkolle-romaanin soutureittiä: Kihlakunta-kirkkoveneellä tultiin etelästä Ströömiä pitkin ja käännyttiin Hujunperälle kirkkorantaa kohti. Vastarannalla näkyvään jyrkkään Riskeläisvuoreen (kirjassa Ristivuori) liittyi surullinen tarina, jossa Filadelfian prinsessaksi kutsuttu Sysilän Milja, nyt jo vanha nainen, oli nuorena hukuttanut aviottoman lapsensa ja souti siitä lähtien kirkkomatkalla pienellä veneellään aina aivan kallion vierestä. Kilpi rinnastaa Miljan surullisen kohtalon nuoreen Siljaan, joka odottaa aviotonta lasta ja on päättänyt selvitä ihmisten puheista huolimatta. Aika on muuttumassa ja nuori sukupolvi vahvempi ja toiveikkaampi kuin vanha.
This cache series will take you for a walk in Lootholma in Kustavi. You will get a glimpse in the history of Kustavi as well as the scenery that Volter Kilpi described towards the end of his novel Kirkolle. The area is open in the summer, and there is a parking lot near the first cache. No entrance fee. Off season you can enter the area on foot and the owner has given his consent to geoadventuring. The caches contain information for finding a bonus cache. Have fun!
There is a path leading past a barbecue site on top of a hill, where you can see a part of the route through which the rowing boats passed on the way to church on Sundays. Volter Kilpi has described the journey in his book Kirkolle, recounting the life stories of some local people. There is a tragic story associated to the steep cliff in the opposite shore, where a woman, called "the Princess of Philadelphia", had drowned her fatherless infant and now, as an old woman, always rowed her small lonely boat next to the cliff on her way to church. Kilpi contrasts her story with that of young Silja, who, also expecting a child without hope of being married to the father of the child, has decided to cope. Times are changing; the new generation will be stronger than the old.
