Alma Pond, also known as Beaver Lake, is a 1.7 mile state owned lake, part of Honeoye Creek. It is located on the Four Mile Road, County Road 38, 3 miles from the hamlet of Alma, NY. Parking is at N42.01.203, W 077.59.118.
The western end of the pond is a dyke/beaver dam system and the easten end is a lily swamp. In the middle is quiet water great for canoeing and especially fishing. Hand launched boats are allowed here.
Fish and wildlife abound in this area. My family has observed turkeys, osprey, ducks, geese, deer, coyotes, turtles, turkey vultures, black bear, the resident bald eagle, owls, fox and even bobcat kits in the immediate area.
Also of interest to the area is a undistrubed Indian burial mound/earthwork located up the road about one mile, on private property but visible from the road.
Please watch for non-cachers as the area is very busy with fisherman during the season. The cache is a 50 cal ammo box with a log book and goodies to exchange.
