This is multi-cache introducing some art-related places in
Tallinn´s biggest and most beautiful park Kadriorg. Overall walking
time about 1-2 hours, walking distance less than 3 km.
Take some artwork with You for trading: a book, music CD or
something like that. All coordinates must be calculated and used in
format DD MM SS.
It’s no need to know anything about Estonian writers or painters,
but it’s possible You get to know something about them and a
surrounding of Estonian presidential castle in Kadriorg. Thanks to
“Helsingi dessant”, we found some good ideas to make this
multi-cache ?.
Please do not publish pics about the statues or buildings on check
points.
The Cache includes:
- Viron Lomaopas – Estonian Travel Guide in finnish
- Tallinn historical monuments – one book in estonian and one in
german
- Saaremaa – book about Estonian biggest island.
- CD with instrumental moods
- And, of course, a logbook
Regular box is big enough to fit middle-size book or some CDs.
The walking tour for discovering the cache includes some points of
interest (or check points) you must follow. In every checkpoint you
got a hint for the next coordinates. So be careful to notice
everything needed. Probably you must use pen and paper.
The check points are there:
1. Composer’s Check Point. You reached the statue of famous
Estonian composer (on cache coordinates given at this page). Write
down the numbers you see on statue. The variable x equals with
first and last number of the birth year of the composer. Variable y
is the number of letters of the composer’s last and first name.
2. Writer’s Check Point. Coordinates are N 59 26 x E 24 47 y-1. It
is a house there, open for public, too. If You like, you can go
inside to take a tour at museum and exhibition rooms. For next
clue, there is no need to enter. You must find the years where
Estonian famous writer lived there. The x is year, where writer
have lived at this house for 4 years (use 2-digit number, e.g. 2
last numbers for x).
3. Swedish King’s Check Point. Coordinates: N 59 26 x-13 E 24 47 x
- there is a tree. Not just a tree, but implanted by Swedish king.
By that, there is a granite stone in front of the tree. Write the
numbers you see on it. Variable x is at this time the number of a
day. The second variable y for next check point is sum of two
numbers top left and right of the stone (remember: that stone was
in front of the King’s Tree).
4. A Czar’s Check Point. Prepare to cross the Russian border (joke)
;). Coordinates: N 59 26 x-13 E 24 y y. You are in front of a
historic house. Find a registration number of the house, it´s on
the wall. Check the registration number´s two last digits,
calculate the sum of them and that´s the x again, for the final
coordinates.
5. Congratulations – the Cache itself! You had walked approximately
1,5 km now. The final coordinates are: N 59 26 x E 24 y 30+x. It’s
time to find a cache, what a is little-bit harder than finding the
check points. It’s nothing very difficult. No need for special
equipment or entering the land owner’s territory. You can choose
between 2 ways: southern is longer (magic word is the Channel),
second, shorter, needs some climbing on your own foot (may be dirty
road at bad weather, but not much).
