INTERNATIONAL DANUBE CYCLING ROUTE
The Atlantic-Black Sea EuroVelo 6 route is one of the 14 routes of the EuroVelo network created by the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) in 1994. From 2004 to 2006, 18 French, German and Swiss partners joined forces to set up the West part of this EuroVelo cycle route, from the Atlantic to Ulm.
It aims at running alongside three of the largest European rivers, melting pots of European civilisation: the Loire, the Rhine and the Danube. It therefore passes through France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia, Croatia, Bulgaria and Romania. The aim of this EuroVelo 6 project is to enable the public to discover exceptional surroundings when cycling alongside the European rivers, while also protecting them.
