Camille picked up the ringing phone sleepily. "Hello?"
A frantic voice on the other end of the line answered. "Camille!
Mon Dieu! Is your brother there? He's late for our gig! We are
supposed to start playing in," slight pause, "15 minutes!!"
Camille, being a musician herself, immediately straightened up.
"I'll get him." She put down the phone and knocked on Jacques's
door. Nothing. "Jacques?" she asked. She pushed open the door, and
peered inside. "Jacques!" She detected a slight movement in the
bed. "Are you sleeping?" She walked over and poked him on the
shoulder. "I can't believe you're still asleep. It's morning.
MORNING! You must get up. Pierre's on the phone. He says you're
late for a gig."
Jacques rolled over and grunted. An empty bottle of French wine
rolled off the bed. One look at her brother and Camille knew he'd
been drinking wayyy too much last night to be able to get up, much
less play his glockenspiel.
She went back out and picked up the phone. "Pierre? He's asleep
- hung over, I think. Listen, shall I sub for him?"
She heard Pierre take a deep breath. "Yes. Hurry."
Camille pulled on her musician's outfit (all black), grabbed her
Eb Contrabass Sarusaphone, and in 15 minutes found herself sitting
with the other musicians, with NO MUSIC(!) on the stand in front of
her. She had forgotten to bring Jacques's music!
Fortunately she knew the song.
One of the musicians was beginning to quietly count off the
piece - and he was looking at her expectantly. A quick glance
around confirmed her horror - no one else was getting ready to
play. They all had rests, they were looking at her, and she
realized she had a 2 measure solo! But.. she had no idea what her
first note was supposed to be. She had no idea how she was supposed
to transpose the music she knew she had to play!
She looked quickly at the French Horn's part on her left: 2
measures rest, first note written A.
She looked quickly at the Tenor Saxophone's part on her right: 4
measures rest, first note written E.
"1......2.......1..2..3..4.."
Camille had more than enough information. She put her
sarusaphone to her lips, and played the opening solo perfectly.

Fill in the X's with the notes that Camille played, from her
sarusaphone's perspective.
Assume A equals 0, 10 equals 1, 11 equals 2
