Geocache Description:

Proving that you can get there from here, this cache is meant to awaken you to examining Oakland in a new way, perhaps from a different perspective.
This is a small urban camo'd 4 oz. container. You do not have to go near the train tracks to find this cache.

Experience the old and new in this reinvigorated area. Always changing, always the same. Enjoy the history. Independence Day visits add a distinctive advantage.

It was the valiant defense of Fort McHenry by American forces during the British attack on September 13, 1814 that inspired 35-year old, poet-lawyer Francis Scott Key to write the poem which was to become our national anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner."
"Oh, say can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?"
