Just off the Hana Highway and worth the side trip. You will thank
me for this one!
You need to take a cave tour for this one, but it’s worth it!
Trust me .. This was the best part of our trip to Maui. Chuck
Thorne, the owner, will take you inside an awesome volcanic lave
tube – the largest in Maui. You will find the cache about 800
feet inside the cache and in the first aid box. You must be on the
tour though – check out www.mauicave.com for more info. The
coordinates will take you to the parking area for the caves. Do
call for reservations at 1-808-248-7308 as of 2011/04/28.
It’s an easy hike and if you want more, take the
“extreme tour” you won’t regret it, I promise!
You will pass real close to these caves if you take a ride to Hana,
which is also a great trip, but even better if you go into the
Ka’eleku caverns. I hid five gold dollar coins inside a water
bottle that was donated to me by the nice folks at the Haleakala
Bike Co.
