The Dread Pirate Roberts Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Bear Clan: Old Ben Gunn has moved the treasure. Like Long John Silver, for some days he was; you may be left holding the map that will lead you to the pit where the treasure were located. Our crew's enough coin to last us all our days. We've left a cache of silver somewhere upon the island, but where, I will not say. One that will likely fade to legend or be forgotten altogether.

To all, I bid, Fair winds and Godspeed!

Geocache Description:

"Once word leaks out that a pirate has gone soft, people begin to disobey you, and then it’s nothing but work, work, work, all the time." -Dread Pirate Roberts

El Morro

History tells of a pirate Roberts who sailed the ocean in the early 18th century. Local legend has it that Roberts and a crew of 77 men, commandeered a Spanish Galleon and captured an unimaginable fortune. They are said to have buried the treasure on a barrier island near Townsend's Inlet under a large tree. The island has changed quite a bit, but the tree remains. And what of the treasure?
No digging for this cache.

Benches and great view of the bay/sunset is just down the street at intersection with 79th street.

“Some pirates achieved immortality by great deeds of cruelty or derring-do. Some achieved immortality by amassing great wealth. But the captain had long ago decided that he would, on the whole, prefer to achieve immortality by not dying.” ― Terry Pratchett, The Color of Magic
