Florida Finder's Fest returns to the
Fish and Wildlife Commisions's
Ocala Conservation Center and Youth Camp
on Eaton Lake in the ONF!
Join us for a weekend of Food, Finds, Fellowship
AND Fun in the Ocala National Forest!
Saturday, October 27th, 2012, 8:00 AM
On Saturday, at 8:00AM, we will have several semi-competitive, somewhat organized, get lost in the woods, geo-fun kinda caching activities. There will be additional activities in the forest from Thursday through Sunday. (See Activities below for details and links regarding several of the planed activities. More to follow.)
After the caching activities on Saturday, we will be serving cooked animal, an assortment of side items, and ice cold drinks. No need to bring anything for dinner on Saturday, but attendees should plan on bringing their own food and drinks for the rest of the day and/or weekend, though there will be additional events with food.
The posted coords are for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's Ocala Conservation Center and Youth Camp in the Ocala National Forest. Watch for additional information at

CAMPING!
The Ocala Conservation Center and Youth Camp is a beautiful site on Eaton Lake. We will be posting information regarding camping, which will be available from Thursday Afternoon, October 25th, through Sunday Morning, October 28th. If space fills up there, we will have alternate sites available nearby. In addition there are a number of forest service campgrounds available near by.
While there is limited availability of electricity at the camp, there is none in the camping area and no individual site hookups.
BUNKHOUSES
There will also be rustic bunkhouse accommodations available. These have electricity and heat/AC, but no running water. Bath house is nearby. No linens are provided.
We will have a Men's and a Women's bunkhouse, and a coed bunkhouse for couples and families. Prices and contact information for reservations, will be posted in the coming months.
OTHER CAMPING AND LODGING
For those with large RVs, or looking for campsites with electrical hookups or those wanting to stay in hotels, we will be posting information about other available camping and lodging.
While we expect to have enough room for tent camping at the main site, and several alternate sites, these sites will only be available from Thursday afternoon through Sunday morning. Also, in the event we fill up, we will be posting information on multiple forest service campgrounds available in the area.
Activities
The "philosophy" of Florida Finders Fest is that there is something for all cachers. If you're a numbers ho, there are lots of caches. If you are looking for "quality", you'll be in a national forest with lots of great new caches and lots of long established caches. Hiking, kayaking, drive ups, off road, and everything in between, its all there.
If you just want to cool out with some fellow cachers, there is plenty of opportunity for that as well.
We do have a number of semi-organized activities. Participate in some, all, or none, as you are so inclined. The following adventures will be available:
The Gauntlet
Poker Run
Best Team Geo-Shirt
The Great Coin and Travel Bug Race
In addition to these activities, there are more activities and events to be announced. Stay tuned!
