Located in Prospect Park, which is a part of the Leominster Recreation Department. Easy and short walk to the cache. Parking is located at N42° 31.960/W071° 43.677 . Cache replaced 4/25/2023 with new container. Park is open 8am - Sunset.
While hiding this cache we saw a Heron landing in the water along the path and is where we got the name from. Prospect Park is 35.68 acres and is located in the northeast section of Leominster on Prospect and Lawrence Streets. Most of the land was taken by eminent domain in 1973, for conservation and recreation purposes, but 9.68 acres of this land was given as a gift to the Leominster Recreation Department. This 9.68-acre area contains walking trails and a small pond with a brook and bridges over the brook. Local Boy Scouts have assisted the Recreation Department on several occasions with the clearing and marking of trails. The cache is a small cache. There are no trinkets inside. Bring your own pencil or pen. There were a lot of mosquitos out when this was placed, so determining the time of the year, you may need or wish to carry the repellent with you.
