There are several hilltops in Fremont Older OSP with wonderful
views; Hunter's Point and Maisie's Peak are the most well known, I
think. This one (Nob Hill, according to a faded sign on the
approach) is actually my favorite. You get a wonderful view of the
Santa Clara Valley, but you also get a great view of the little
valley to the South that Mt. Eden Road meanders through.
When I was growing up in the area, the little valley contained a
few houses and stables, nothing more. Now it looks like it contains
boutique mansions for the nouveau riche that live in that part of
Saratoga west of Highway 9. It's still a pretty view, but I liked
it better before.
The cache is an ammo box, hidden a ways from the apex. (The area
around the top is marked as closed, so I couldn't hide it by the
massive oak tree there.) If it's rained in the last week, the
trails approaching the cache are going to be muddy, so be prepared.
Also, be aware that poison oak has been seen in the vicinity of the
cache.
