This cache has been archived.

Krypton: As there's been no response to my previous note, I assume that the cache is not going to be repaired or replaced, so I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us, and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it

Thanks for your cooperation!

Geocache Description:

A multi-leg cache in a neighborhood park.

Our neighbor, Kathy Napier, worked tirelessly for her cause until she died about a year ago. She had been an urban single mom back in the 40s, and then had worked in law enforcement. She felt that kids these days often do not have a safe place to play, and that if this situation could be fixed, the world would be a better place.

Kathy is the reason that this neighborhood park exists. It took her over 10 years, but she made it happen. Everything you see in this park was in jeopardy of never happening. It is a pretty bare-bones park, but look at the great location, and all the trees that have been preserved! The play structure is here thanks to the neighborhood assocation (started by Kathy) and a grant from the Peninsula Community Foundation.

Kathy was also a big advocate of cleaning up our neighborhood. She and a group of neighborhood women cleaned up the canyon you can see through the trees, back in the 70s. Until then, it had been a notorious dumping ground.

While you are here, if you feel so inclined, you can do your part to remember Kathy by picking up any litter you find and putting it in the trash cans provided by the City of Pacifica.

This is a multi-cache with three legs. The first two legs are small camoflouged containers and the last leg, the actual cache, is a large tupperware approximately 12" x 12" x 3". In honor of Kathy's Cause, it is filled with child-friendly items.

When established, the cache contained a log book and pen, tea spoon, mini flower pot, pencil and animal eraser, mini wagon, suction ball, melted army man, pack of pansy stickers, 2 cowboys, 3 Indians, silly glasses, bird on a rock, pink yo-yo, Percy train, plastic rat, youth bus token, and a Tele-tubby like doll purse.
