Murphy's Gate Traditional Cache
forestbloom: Thanks to everyone who has visited Murphy's Gate cache. It's sounds like it's getting a bit overgrown in the immediate area.

Murphy’s gate or gate 30 has plenty of parking and is a good trail for the whole family in the Auburn State Recreation Area. Just be careful when entering and exiting the parking area on this winding Hwy. We don’t know the history of this site but it is fun to imagine what may have been here in years past. There is no need to do any climbing to find this cache. We didn’t see any poison oak around the cache but poison oak is common in this area. Cache is a sandwich size tupperware in black plastic.
One log notes that Mr Murphy sold his house and his land to the B.O.R. when the Auburn Dam project was active. Mr. Murphy now lives on California State Park land by their office.
Congratulations to The Sierra Hiker for being the FTF!
