Geocache Description:

The cache is located at Håkonshella

The place has got the name from King ‘Håkon den gode’. Håkon was the youngest son of Harald Hårfagre og Tora Mosterstong. The story is that Tora was on board a boat when she was to give birth. The boat came alongside this place and Håkon was born here in 920.

40 years later Håkon is said to have died at the same location after getting wounded at the battle at Fitjar.

‘Håkon den gode’ is also known as Håkon Haraldsson or Håkon Adalsteinsfostre. The name ‘Adalsteinsfostre’ he got from being raised in England by King Athelstan of England.

The second part of the name ‘Håkonshella’ might have a couple of meanings. ‘Hella’ could be a flat rock, or ‘Hella’ has also been used for landing places for boats.

The cache is not visible, please put it back to still be invisible since the place can be crowded if it ever stop raining...
