The Series:
There are ten caches in this series. Each cache contains
one-tenth of a $10,000 bill with a number on it. When you visit
each cache, note the location of the bill segment and the number on
the bill. Use these ten numbers to find the final cache!
A bit of history - Team Alamo's 8000th cache:
Lee logged his 8000th cache at
GeoWoodstock III, specifically the cache was
The Number Ho Celebration Dinner, an event
that was part of GeoWoodstock. He still reminisces about the day
in Daytona when he found 91 caches by himself...
This cache:
Anyway, GeoWoodstock is about the
numbers, but anyone who has been out with TeamAlamo knows that Lee
doesn't cache just for numbers. He caches for the hikes too. Many
of my difficult terrain hikes have been done with TeamAlamo almost
pulling me up some steep hill somewhere, and no steep hills have
been more memorable than the ones in what Lee himself told me was
his favorite park - Las
Trampas Regional Wilderness, and no cache in Las Trampas has
been more memorable than Purgatory.
Purgatory was an attempt to coerce
other GeoCachers to make a particularly onerous trek to Devil's Hole. The cache led a short and controversial
life and was archived after only a few months. It's too bad,
really, because I know how much everyone enjoyed making the
trip.
So then what better tribute could
we offer to Lee but one more opportunity to visit
Purgatory?
