The Refuge Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

mtn-man: Topozone identifies this area as Sand Dunes, but it looks like the NWR now controls this land. It is always a bummer to see an old cache go. Looks like it was removed.

Geocache Description:

Located in the Sand Dunes State Forest, along the St. Frances river. Park in the little gravel parking area on the south side of Hwy. 4. A walk through the trees to get to your quest. (The deer flies and mosquitos are pesky in the summer, so some repellent might be a good idea).

The cache is a plastic ice cream bucket with some treasures for young and old. It should be a fun one to find. Sand Dunes is a wildlife refuge that allows public hunting. The wildlife factor is high, so don't be surprised to spot deer or wild turkey while you're out searching. It's not buried, but is somewhat obstructed from view.
