We were recently honored to get to to know some very fine people
who are prolific geocachers.
The Outlaw,
MoosieGirl, and
TreyB are three of them.
These Texans have logged more than 26,000 finds and 270 hides
between them. So we were thrilled when they volunteered to spend a
fine fall day with us in New England showing us some of their best
tips and techniques.
We were also thrilled to get the benefit of their device in
helping us place our first cache ever! In their honor, we named it
Austin2Boston. Austin is the capital of a very big state, you see,
and Boston is the capital of a very small one. Add up their total
finds and compare them to ours and, well, you get the picture.
This is a standard ammo box not far off the trail. The scene is
Great Brook Farm, a large state park in eastern Massachusetts with
20 miles of trails for hiking, bicycling and horseback riding. It’s
also a treasure trove of caches, at least by those sparse
Massachusetts standards.
The Outlaw used to explore this area when he was growing up not
too far from here. Of course, he’s since shed his Massachusetts
accent and looks every bit the native Texan. You’ll have to climb a
bit to find this one, but it shouldn’t give you much trouble.
Congratulations to
geos of the jungle for the FTF!!!
It seems the logbook is missing, so could the next person please
bring a replacement? We appreciate it oh so much!
