This multi cache highlights several of Vinton, Iowa's historic landmarks. All travel is paved until the last leg. It will require driving between points as they are well spaced out across town.
1. Begin at the coordinates listed above. Look north and write down the word carved into the facade, "--------". These letters will be "A" below. Then take a moment to view the historic landscape and the building to the south- one of the oldest buildings in Iowa. Please park only in allowable areas.
2. Head east to downtown Vinton. At the corner of A Avenue and 4th Street, read the west-facing mural on the wall, which tells you that Vinton was the "---- -------" Capital of the World at one time. These letters will be "B" below.
3. Travel to N42.10.019, W092.01.(353+A). This building was built in 1916 and "------" in 2005, but is still standing. (This should be pretty obvious.) These letters will be C below.
4. The final coordinates for the cache are:
N42.10.(516+C)
W092.00.(770+B)
The cache is a tupperware-type container which contains a shell necklace, 2 gold coins, a log book, and the Etch-a-Sketch Travel Bug.
I had to move this from its original location because it was too close to another cache- this hide is much more challenging. It is located in the same park, but in a lesser-known area. You do *not* have to cross any fence lines or private property to reach this cache- resist the temptation to do so!! If you find yourself at a dead end, backtrack and take the easy way.
The cache is located in a public area of the park, and well-hidden. Whoever is first to find the new placement should get some extra star credits here. I'm upping the difficulty and terrain ratings.
Enjoy!
