Geocache Description:

You are looking for a blaze orange match container that we have placed in Olympus Hills Park in honor of Galileo Galilei, who in 1609 became the first person to use a telescope to observe the heavens.

Jupiter and its Galilean moons
Using his telescope, Galileo discovered the four largest moons of Jupiter (Io, Europa, Callisto, and Ganymede) and established that Venus went through phases just like the Moon. He also saw the rings of Saturn, the mountains and craters on the Moon, the sunspots on the surface of the Sun, and the individual stars that make up the Milky Way.

Galileo's observations of Jupiter and Venus contradicted the established view that the Sun and the planets revolved around the Earth and gave support to the notion that the planets (including the Earth) revolved around the Sun. In 1616, the Catholic Church condemned this notion as contrary to the Bible and obtained a promise from Galileo to stop promoting it. Following the publication of his book Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems in 1632, which argued for the sun-centered view of the Solar System, he was placed under house arrest by the Church until his death in 1642 at the age of 77.
Galileo Galilei

We are fortunate to live in a more enlightened era, one in which politicians and religious leaders wouldn't dream of manipulating science to achieve their ends.

Think of Galileo while you search for the cache. Take care retrieving the container from its hiding place.
