Another historic landmark in Cordova is its old post office. Opened in 1888, the building became obsolete when the new post office opened. It was restored and moved to the Cordova Community Center for public enjoyment.
While you are there, you may also be able to visit the Cordova Community Center (also known as "Cordova School" or "Cordova Elementary School"). It is a former school, former Shelby county library with meeting rooms, host to the annual Cordova Arts and Crafts Fair each October, home to locals for pick-up basketball in the attached gymnasium, and many start-up churches have used this building for worship on Sundays. It was constructed about the time of World War I and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
