The Queen's River preserve is a
151 acre site in Exeter, owned and managed by The Nature
Conservancy. Area features include clearly delineated trails
running along side the pristine Queen's River, a small and rare
Pine barren habitat, a very old family burial plot and a large
hay field. I have hiked here several times and have been struck
by it's cleanliness. Please help in maintaining it's condition
by carrying out everything you carry in.
You can find out more about The Queen's River Preserve by
visiting The Nature Conservancy's website.
There is a large hay field that runs
almost the length of the Queen's River preserve along it's eastern
Boundary. There is path that runs along the perimeter of the field,
just along the trees. It is a great area for wildlife watching.
This cache is intended to help you explore the preserve away from
the Queen's River.
This cache is located approximately
0.4miles from the Parking area. Follow the wide dirt path from the
parking area until you reach your first left turn. Follow the trail
until you reach the hayfield. From here, simply hike along the
perimeter of the field to the cache. The shorter route starts to
your left.
I suspect there was a farmer at some
point who had some fun while clearing his field of rocks. You will
see his little creation near the cache site. Please don't get your
hopes up, it's not that amazing. The cache is a small camo'd Ziploc
container with room for small trade items. In keeping with the
Nature Conservancy's request, the cache is located within 20 feet
of the Rocks in question and the field perimeter.
Congratulations to KnightsFootball on the FTF!
