I placed this
cache as I hiked to Chalk Mountain to find the cache there,
Room with a View. The morning coastal fog had burned away by
the time I finished placing the cache, which gave me a nice
view of the beaches of the Año Nuevo State Reserve below.
I came up by way of Whitehouse Ridge Trail, a very pleasant
hiking trail that has many switchbacks to nicely accomodate the
elevation gain. The trail is in the trees and very shaded until the
last quarter of a mile before it meets with Chalk's Road.
I placed a couple of caches along the way to try to encourage
hikers who cache to enjoy that very nice trail with its overlooks.
This is one of them. As you hike the trail, watch for a trail sign
that will take you off of the Whitehouse Ridge Trail to the
"Overlook".
You are looking for a small black-painted tea tin that has a
small log, a pencil, and a few small trade items. Please rehide
well.
Please bring a camera and post a picture or two of your
adventure!
I especially enjoyed the interpretive sign at the overlook.
GPS reception may be a little off due to the trees. If you have
trouble finding the cache, please be sure to read the hint which
uses the sign as a reference.
Enjoy! And happy caching!
